Ommegang
2 - 4 July
A journey through 16th-century Brussels!
Every year at the beginning of summer, Brussels celebrates the Ommegang, a spectacular re-enactment of Charles V's entry into Brussels in 1549. For several days, the city vibrates to the rhythm of history, with processions, demonstrations of ancient arts and popular festivities.
The Sablon district plays a central role in this event, as this is where the prestigious procession begins. The Place du Grand Sablon is transformed into a lively medieval camp, with artisans dressed in period costume, demonstrations of ancient crafts, traditional music and entertainment for young and old. The atmosphere is unique, combining living heritage, conviviality and culture.
An exceptional opportunity to rediscover the Sablon in all its historic splendour!
